Lesh threw back another shot with a laugh. Even though she had told herself she wouldn't drink tonight, even though she had brought Mira out here for a serious conversation, all plans tended to dissolve around the Imperial Knight. That's how it had always been, of course, and Lesh had no right to be as surprised as she was, but she found that everything the woman did sparked a new note of uncertainty in her life. There was never any way of telling what she could, and most certainly would, do. Instead. She had learned to adapt to wherever Mira's mood took them. Lesh had tried in the past, of course, to direct the conversation, to control the setting, but had long since given up in the years since they had met. Still, the Twi'lek couldn't help but feel a bit of apprehension and a bit of high strung nervousness about tonight's potential direction.

"Nnnnnnno. I am not shupposhed to be drinking with you. You know thishh is shuch a bad idea, Meeera." She giggled and reached for another shot. They had established during their previous outings that if they both drank, then buildings tended to be suddenly and inexplicably renovated… most of the times, not for the best, either. As such, Lesh had taken to staying sober when she and Mira went out together. In the five years of being with the crazy woman, she had seen her take down many buildings while drunk, sometimes assisting her in the demolishing. And, frankly, that wasn't the kind of night she was aiming for.

No, tonight, Lesh had specific plans. Tonight, she had prepared a serious conversation that could determine the future of her and Mira's friendship. She had tried to broach this subject in the past, but Mira was, well… a fucking airhead as well as a psycho. Both things had never phased Lesh, not once, and she doubted they ever would. But sometimes the other woman needed a bit of a push. And tonight, she hoped to achieve… something. Regardless of the result, she needed to open the Imperial Knights blind eyes to the potential thing before her. She threw back the shot in her hand again, trying to aggressively drink her nerves away.

Mira slowly tapped her fingers against the glass of Corellian Whiskey as Lesh stumbled through another sentence. She knew that the Twi'lek had brought her here for a reason, but the Echani woman couldn't figure out what reason that was yet. She wasn't getting raise, that's for sure, Imperial Knights got paid more than enough to get shit-faced. Not that Mira could complain too much as she herself downed in drinks.

Part of her told her to keep her sight wide and attention focused on the people all around. This planet, Nar Shaddaa, wasn't the nicest to strangers. However, that sensible part of her was being quickly drowned out by the glass of whiskey that had, somehow, made it's way from the table to Mira's face and down her throat. Mira blamed her arm and hand, always betraying her.

Laughing and giggling, Mira responded to her red friend, "Bullssshhit. You drink when I tell you to ffffucking drink! I command you, drink!" At that, Mira poured and downed a second shot of whiskey. Turning towards her friend, Mira smiled and poured another drink for Lesh. "Wh-Why you take me here? What. do. you. want?" Her words were not so accusatory as one might think. Rather, it was that Mira was having difficulty actually getting each individual word out as her head sank closer and closer towards the table where it found rest.

"Wh-Why you take me here? What. do. you. Want?"

The woman’s hand twitched slightly as she reached out to take the next shot from Mira. Here was another opening to start the conversation she so badly wanted to have. Her throat convulsed slightly as she struggled to speak. After a few moments of silence, she burst into a smile and chickened out yet again. “I can’t rememmeber right now. It’ll come back to me… I think?” She burst into laughter again as she threw back the newest shot.

A part of her knew that there wasn’t any real way to hide her tells from Mira, especially after all these years, but Lesh still tried to cover the twitching of her fingers, the tenseness of her shoulders. Her mind was divided between the desire to start screaming and tell her everything, to see if Mira was really just that airheaded, and to run far away from this bar and this planet. She wanted to see if Mira would chase her down like she had done to so many others before, or if she would just let her leave, never to be seen again. At least that might give her a definite answer to the question burning in her head.

Instead, the Twi’lek stood up and took a few moments to steady herself before clapping a hand onto Mira’s shoulder. “Come. Yyyyou’re as wrecked as I am. Let’sh go back to the shhip now. Lest you burn the building down, haha.” She extended a hand to the Echani, offering a steadying arm to grasp. Just like that, she had put it off again, and she cursed herself in her mind. When would she get the courage to simply ask.

"Can't remember? Bullshit." Mira thought, or rather, she believed the statement to only be in her head. Unfortunately, Mira said that out loud. Not noticing the words escaped her lips, Mira downed one last drink before sinking into the table once more. "I feel like I'm meeelting. Can Esschani melt? I've never met another Esschani... Maybe I'm not even Esschani, maybe, maaaaybe I'm arkanananaia- I never knew my mother! She must've been a bitssch! UUUUUUUHHG!" The stream of stupidity flowed through Mira's mouth. All things she believed were only thoughts now became speech once enough alcohol had plied loose her inhibitions.

As Lesh stood up, clasping Mira's shoulder, Mira instinctively leaned into the touch. Nodding in response to her friend, "Yeah that's a good idea." Standing up, she added in a shout at the protocol droid serving drinks, "After all MAYBE A LITTLE FIRE WOULD BE GOOD FOR THIS SSSHHI-HIC-THOLE!"

At that, she would follow Lesh out of the bar.

It seemed as though Mira’s entire stream of consciousness was just melting out of her at this point, and Lesh had to struggle not to laugh as she lead the smaller woman out the door of the bar. She couldn't tell if Mira knew she was even speaking, but she let the comments breeze by as she tried to navigate them back to the ship. They had walked maybe three blocks before turning a corner and smacking directly into a solid wall of person. She barely managed to keep herself standing as she took a few steps back and looked up - way up.

Unlike Mira, Lesh was quite tall, and most of the people they worked with were either shorter than her or barely taller. The man who they had run into however was easily about six and half feet taller, and looked like he weighed close to the 136 kilo mark. There was barely any light in the filthy alley they had turned to cut through, so she couldn't clearly see his face, but what she could see made her sober slightly. Something about the way he was staring them down made her want to resolve this quietly.

“ ‘sscuse us, mishter. We’re just passing by. Shorry we bumped into you.” She tightened her grip on Mira’s arm to help keep the Knight on balance. Lesh then started to lead them around him and down the alley, but he stepped out into the path and blocked them while chuckling.

“Oh, I don’t mind. But, uh.. If you wanted to go past… You need to pay the toll first.“ He shrugged his massive shoulders, and at once Lesh straightened out, her free hand going to her hip, close to where her whip was concealed beneath her waistband.

“Oh? And what’s the toll?”

“All the money you have you on you, and all your valuables. We could work out a different arrangement.. But I don’t think you ladies would like that as much.”

There was a short pause before Lesh burst into laughter, turning to look down at her friend, “Oh god, Mira, he’s trying to mug us.” She cleared her throat and turned back to him with a big smile. “I’m sorry, but since Mira here hasn’t given me a raise in two years, I don’t really have any money for you to take. As for your alternative choice? You’d be better off just letting us past.”

As the swirling of drinks in Mira's body finally set into her head, darkness overtook the small woman. She was not born attached to the Force at the hip like other blind Jedi, her sight through the energies that surrounded the galaxy was one she worked for. But if she did not consciously think about it, then it was something that slipped from her. It was not the feeling of loss that someone might experience if they misplaced their glasses, rather, it was the same feeling as someone who was forcibly holding their own eyes open. For the moment, Mira's 'eyes' were simply closed.

Then the voices set in. Oh god the voices. One of them wasn't terrible, it sounded sort of like the sweet tones of Lesh. But the other one, oh, so aggravating. She wanted it to go away, and by god if it didn't go away right the fuck now then Mira decided that she would make it go away. Her teeth gritted and her hands, grasping against Lesh, would tighten their grip.

Whilst the man in front of them would see no visible change, Lesh would feel the dark energies swirling and gathering around her superior. In the small body of the Echani, heavily leaning on Lesh's side, a darkness was stirring once more. Lesh would recognize the feeling and intensity immediately, it was the same kind of feeling she would experience among the Sith. The kind of darkness that usually came right before someone got killed.

At that, Mira growled, "Lesssh where is it? I wanna kill it."

Lesh had prepared to shoot off a sarcastic retort to whatever Mira had planned to say, but that quickly changed as she felt the shadows set in around the Echani. She gripped her tighter, her hand slipping down to the handle of the whip beneath her skirt. She kept her eyes on Mira as she spoke in a much more serious tone to their would be mugger. "You need to let us pass. That is, unless you want to die."

The man laughed and shook his head, gesturing to Mira with one hand, the other crossing over his chest, "What, or the pixie is gonna bite me? Why would I be scared of you little girls?" He leaned down toward them, close enough that his alcohol laced breath permeated the air around them with its bitterness. “Don’t be fucking stupid.”

There was a moment of pause before Lesh broke into a long, slow smile. She released Mira’s arm and withdrew her whip handle, shrugging in defeat. “Then the alternative way it is.” She quickly circled the handle, igniting the whip mid swing, and lashed the man across his thigh. She misjudged slightly however, still intoxicated as she was, and the tip of the whip struck her shoulder as she swung it back. An intense burning began immediately, and she covered it with her free hand, ignoring the loud shriek of pain from their "assaulter".

"He's three feet in front of you, Mira. Leaning over to about your height right now. Try not to make a mess."

Was time moving in slow motion or did it fly by at the speed of sound? As Mira's mind swam amind the sounds of Lesh's sweet voice and the darkness behind the man's voice. Mira drank deep of its emotions, feeling the intoxication taking over the foolish human and allowing it to slip over her own body. Oh how she wanted to harm him.

Lesh strunk him, Mira could feel that through the Force, but did not strike him down. Breathing deep, she channeled the darkness within her as her partner pulled back her weapon. Before the Dark Side of the Force could freely flow through the Echani's body, Mira's consciousness was assaulted by Lesh's echo of pain. Being so close to her friend both in proximity and their relationship, the pain radiated through the energies surrounding them and reverberated through Mira.

Immediately, the darkness fled from her. Her body was flooded with concern over her friend. Mira let go of her darkness and anger, allowing the Force to completely take over her body for her reaction. In that moment, there was no difference between the Echani and the cosmic callings that ruled their existences. Barely heard inside Mira's head over the avalanche of calm that slammed into Mira's form, Lesh's voice called out instructions.

"He's three feet in front of you, Mira. Leaning over to about your height right now. Try not to make a mess."

"Understood."

She moved like water. Her form smooth. Blade ignited. In less than a heartbeat, Mira's orange blade cleaved the drunk in half from his shoulder to his hip. Just as quickly as it had emerged, the saberstaff found itself retracted and back at Mira's hip. Suddenly, she collapsed into Lesh, muttering, "Oh no." As she fell.

There was a brief moment where the man's face split in shock as the blade cut through his body. Two heartbeats before he had actually passed on, and he gasped loudly in what must have been excruciating pain. A part of Lesh wanted to chide Mira for making such a mess as she examined the violent spray pattern of blood, but it faded away almost immediately.

"Oh no."

She reached out with her uninjured arm to catch Mira as she sank into her, trying to keep them both steady as her heart skipped a beat. Thankfully the woman was abnormally tiny, which allowed Lesh to keep them both on their feet. She did a quick check around for anyone else in the area, but the night was thankfully sparse of any possible nosy interlopers. She grimaced as her shoulder shot burning pain into her chest. That was going to need some real attention once they were back to the ship. She should have known better than to use her whip in such a tight alleyway and was once again reminded of why exactly she didn't drink with Mira.

She paused for a moment to think as a pool of blood started to spread outward toward them. Her inebriated, adrenaline riddled brain skipped a few tracks before catching up to her struggling attempt at remembering where they parked the ship. After a few long moments of retracing their steps in which blood started to coat the front edge of her boots, Lesh finally remembered where they had docked. Half supporting, half carrying Mira, she set off on the way back.

"Don't worry. I got you." She tried to be gentle as she helped Mira along, but knew that at a point or two she had probably pulled a bit too hard. She hummed to hide the fact that she wanted to scream in pain as her shoulder continued to bleed down her arm, staining her cropped top and dripping into the space between her gauntlets and her skin. Hopefully, Mira was so far out of it that she wouldn't notice it, nor feel it when Lesh would have to eventually stitch her own arm up.

The exhaustion of the Force? No, impossible, drinking would not impair her power so greatly as that a simple movement would kill her strength. Mira wracked her brain as she leaned into Lesh. Possibly, it was simply the alcohol overwhelming her. How much exactly had she drank? Mira attempted to recall it, and started to visibly wince once she calculated she must be near alcohol poisoning by this point.

The rest of the walk to Mira's vessel was relatively quiet and calm, thankfully for the wounded woman and the drunk one. Waving her hand, the ship recognized her and deigned to open up the landing platform. Finally, Mira began supporting her own weight again and slowly began feeling her way into the ship, walking the halls with the confidence that she knew exactly where everything was despite not being able to see anything still.

Headed to the medical bay, a tiny room no larger than 5 meters cubed, Mira commanded Lesh, "Come to my room, I can smell the blood on your wound. I will help you."

The tone of her voice, so very serious, left no room for argument. Still without reaching out into the Force to 'see,' Mira reached the medical bay and began pulling out stitching tools. It was overtly obvious Mira had performed many operations of a similar caliber without the aid of the Force before. Holding out a hand to help Lesh to the medical bed, the bed that barely fit in the room on the ship, Mira spoke to her friend in a slightly kinder tone, "Come lay down, please."

She tried to suppress the slight sigh of relief she had as Mira began to move of her own accord. Gods only knew how the woman was walking around after the amount of alcohol she had consumed, though. She followed her up and into the ship before pausing by the doorway of the medical bay, awkwardly shifting her weight. "Come to my room, I can smell the blood on your wound. I will help you."

There was somewhat of an edge to her voice, an unyielding demand rather than a request, and Lesh knew better than to disobey that tone. She paused only briefly, just long enough that Mira seemed to soften a bit more. "Come lay down, please."

She huffed, slightly disgruntled, as she accepted Mira's hand and stepped into the room. She hardly needed the smaller women's help, but Lesh rarely passed up a chance to touch her either. As she played down and very gingerly removed her gauntlets, she felt her cheeks flush slightly. "As though I'm the one who needs help. You're the one who tried to drink an elephant under the table."

She placed her gauntlets to the side and tired to lay as still as possible on the small bed, her knees bent so that she could fit into the space. She wasn't sure if Mira even knew how small the bed was compared to her, after all. Not that the thought stayed long in her head as she looked over at the blind woman, her face softening a bit.

Mira picked up Lesh's gauntlet's and set them down on the floor outside of the room in order to clear the side table in the medical bay. Sighing at her friend's comments, the blind woman responded completely without thinking, "Two elephants at least, Force damn it's taken this long jussht to flush a little bit of that ssshhhit out." At that, Mira shuddered and pressed her hands into her forehead. Her body rejecting the Force flowing through and detoxifying it, but Mira didn't really give her body a choice in the matter.

Grunting, she added, "I need this ssshhit off my kriffing face." At that, she unwrapped her bandages around her eyes and set the stained things down. The white cloth on the outside disguised and betrayed the yellow, puss covered inside. It was overtly obvious that this was a bandage that Mira changed constantly. As she detoxed, Mira couldn't remember if she had ever taken off her eye wrappings around Lesh. But she assumed she must have at least once. Unfortunately, her eyes were the only thing about her body she felt a modicum of self consciousness about. She could be completely naked but feel covered as long as something laid across her eyes.

After all, her eyes were truly not an enjoyable sight to see. Her scarred skin appeared twisted and molten, covering most of what remained of her eyes. That is, excepting what little useless bits of sclera that covered her little pathetic sacks of water in her head. Occasionally, they'd shift and move out of unconscious habit without Mira really feeling it, revealing a sunken and horribly black cornea that leaked a horrible, foul smelling fluid. It could be barely seen unless stared at, but stare is exactly what people tended to do when Mira didn't cover herself.

However, the pain in her head outweighed her self consciousness this time; that said, it was just her and Lesh here as well. Relaxing a bit, she steadied her hands and began to take out a suture kit. Channeling the Force, Mira allowed herself a little bit of tunnel vision through the pain and the flow of the Force that slowly, but surely, removed the alcohol from her blood. Focusing solely on Lesh's wounds, Mira sighed and remarked, "Oh, oh dear. I'm so sorry. I ssshhhould have reacted faster."

Lesh shook her head at Mira's response and closed her eyes, biting back an even more sarcastic response about alcoholism and how Mira probably couldn't grow another liver when she burst out, "I need this ssshhit off my kriffing face." There was a sound of fabric rustling and footsteps, and then she could feel the warmth coming off of Mira's body as she returned to do the sutures on Lesh's now barely weeping wound. The Twi'lek assumed, rightfully so, that the excessive warmth was probably from Mira trying to detox as fast as possible. She titled her head in Mira's direction and looked up, prepared to make a sassy comment about how she didn't have to use the Force to detox given she knew her limit when she stopped full force.

"Oh, oh dear. I'm so sorry. I ssshhhould have reacted faster."

There was a stark silence as Lesh stared at Mira's eyes for the first time in almost six years. She knew that Mira was blind, that was true. What she hadn't known was exactly how she was blind. That is to say, well, the sight left her speechless. Part of her brain had simply flat lined, and she sat there trying to process the sight before her. The other half reflexively reached out to take a cloth from the side table to clean Mira's under eyes off of the disgusting fluids. Her hand shook slightly as she very lightly swiped under both of them before returning to dumbfounded staring.

"I... Your eyes. What in the Force's name happened?"

There was a look of objective horror and fascination on Lesh's face as she leaned up on her elbows. She took in Mira's whole, undisturbed face, seeing where the lines that had always been hidden connected, examining the deep scar tissue and the ragged remains of her eyes. They looked as though, even after all this time, they were infected as fresh as if it had happened this week. Had she done this to herself? Was she causing it to remain unhealed? Something about the sight of Mira's face without her blindfold was breaking Lesh's heart, and the pain of it was far more intense than the pain of her arm. She knew, in that moment, if she could take away Mira's pain, take away whatever had happened to her, she would, but only if the small woman would remain the same.

Mira ignored Lesh's hands as the silence fell over the two. Mira was acutely aware that Lesh was staring at her eyes, and she immediately knew that Lesh had never before seen her friend without the coverings over her eyes. Ignoring the silence for the time being, Mira continued to patch up Lesh's shoulder, channeling the energies of the Force into her work as well to speed the healing process and eliminate as much of Lesh's suffering as possible.

"I... Your eyes. What in the Force's name happened?"

Mira barely felt Lesh's hands wiping her weeping eyes, as almost all sensation had fled her long ago. But she felt the pressure of Lesh's fingers, and sighed sadly as her cloth absorbed a small amount more of puss. She did not move to remove Lesh's hands, rather allowing her to finish so that Mira herself could finish suturing Lesh's shoulder.

"I, I never actually told you, did I? Oh, it's a long story but- ok."

Finishing with Lesh's shoulder, Mira put away the suture kit and folded her hands together. Relaxing her head, allowing her face to fall and 'look' down, Mira told her story.

"I was uh, seven, at the time. My master, my father, was angry that I was having trouble learning the seventh form of lightsaber combat. Form seven, Juyo, ha, ha ha. Teaching a child, who has not known true pain or anger yet, a form that relies on channeling internal rage into combat is just, it's a ridiculous idea. I can't even fathom it.

"But that's, that's what he wanted. After months of training, he flew into yet another one of his rages. But, uh, this time he said 'your eyes! You rely too much on your eyes! Let me fix that for you!' Then he, fixed that, for me. He held me down and burned them out, one by one. It, uh, it worked, ha ha. I had a source on which to draw primal rage, anger, and pain. Don't worry, the old bastard is dead now. I killed him shortly after my tenth birthday.

"But Juyo, that form, that damn form, it's part of why I am able to kill so easily. It is an unpredictable, dangerous, and deadly form to use. I'm certain your master trained you in it at one point, all Sith train in it, but no Sith master it. To master it, truly, you have to see both sides of the Force. To know when to give in to darkness and emotion, and to know when to restrict yourself, the two sides of the coin that is the Force. I have put almost every day of my life into that form, even now, i practice it. But, I wish, I wish I never knew it. I wish for my life to be so much different than it is now.

"I'm, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to complain, or talk so much.
"

Mira fell silent at that, appearing ashamed that she revealed so much of her past. To Mira, it was a burden, and she did not mean to burden her friend with all this information.

As Mira told her story, a heavier weight seemed to settle in Lesh's stomach. She didn't dare interrupt as she sat up straight on the bed, tossing the cloth onto the side table. She listened quietly, attentively, and she could feel through it all, Mira's focus on her shoulder. As the small woman finished her story, she tacked on an ashamed, "I'm, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to complain, or talk so much."

Despite her now furiously trembling hands, Lesh gave Mira a soft smile and tried to comfort her. "No, don't apologize, I- please. Don't. You haven't done anything that needs apologizing for, Mira. I- I can't imagine what it must have been like, living like- I, I just can't-"

She broke off with a choked sound, as though she had tried to clear her throat and failed. After a moment the Twi'lek stood up and wrapped her arms around Mira's shoulders. She couldn't think of the right words that could convey her anger at the woman's father, her heartbreak over what had been done to her best friend. She didn't know how to vocalize how much of what Mira did now made sense to her, and she didn't know how to tell the woman how much she wanted to prevent anything like that from ever happening to her again. There was so much that Lesh wanted to say, in that moment, to Mira, that she knew she did not have the courage or resolve to say. She lapsed into her mother's tongue as she finally continued, "Eswo'Mira. I have no idea why he thought that he could force such a young child to learn Juyo. I am so sorry for your sook'shar, your grief, your sorrow. But arni’soyacho, arni, arni, for finding me as you did. I wouldn't change a thing about who you are, for you are... hirani."

She let her head rest on Mira's shoulder and loosened her grip after a moment to release the Echani. She'd never seen her allow anyone to touch her, or seen her touch anyone else, and Lesh was uncertain that despite their closeness, Mira wouldn't deck her out of sheer reflex.

Mira was taken by complete as Lesh wrapped her arms around Mira's small frame. It wasn't that Lesh acted in a way that was necessarily surprising, rather, Mira had simply never experienced such a sensation before. It was a strange thing, to have never been hugged by anyone before, and Mira's immediate natural reaction was to tense her whole body in anticipation for an attack that was never to come.

Slowly and deliberately, Mira forced her body to relax as Lesh spoke to her. Her words were mixed in a language that Mira knew was Lesh's native tongue of Ryl and Basic. Despite not knowing any Ryl, Mira could clearly understand these things meant a great deal to Lesh. Softly and slowly, Mira reached out and patted Lesh's back, gently shushing her long after she had finished speaking. Without thinking, Mira responded, "It's, it's ok Lesh. It's ok."

As Lesh's head rested against Mira's shoulder, the Imperial Knight Master gently moved her hand from Lesh's back and set it on her head. Ever so softly stroking Lesh's head, the white haired woman finally processed everything Lesh had said.

"I, thank you. I'm vainly happy you would not change me, though I certainly would if I could. I suppose it should go without saying, but I wouldn't change you either, my Lesh."
